Rad­hanath Swami was part of a panel dis­cus­sion with MIT pro­fes­sors, stu­dents, and spe­cial guests. All present openly dis­cussed the inter­sec­tion of spir­i­tu­al­ity and sci­ence and steps to har­mo­niz­ing the two.

Rita Nether­sole, Asso­ciate Dean at UMass Boston, said in her intro­duc­tion on Thurs­day Novem­ber 18 that “as I was read­ing Rad­hanath Swami’s book The Jour­ney Home it invoked in me a sense of what UMass is about — peo­ple seek­ing in var­i­ous ways and the abil­ity to find wis­dom in so many peo­ple. I was once told that we are human beings on a spir­i­tual path but now I am learn­ing that we are spir­i­tual beings on a human path.”

Wednes­day Novem­ber 17 Boston Uni­ver­sity Holis­tic Yoga Club pro­vided an evening full of music, words of wis­dom, and a veg­e­tar­ian din­ner. Gau­ra­vani & gui­tarist Richard Davis — pro­fes­sor at Berklee Col­lege of Music — played as peo­ple trick­led in. Then a mem­ber of the Holis­tic Yoga Club described how yoga and med­i­ta­tion relieve stress.

Thurs­day Novem­ber 11 the Bhakti club of Rut­gers Uni­ver­sity in New Jer­sey put on a huge event called Sacred Sounds. The club posted 2000 11X17 posters all around cam­pus. More than 500 peo­ple walked in to see Gau­ra­vani & As Kin­dred Spir­its, The Maya­puris, and Rad­hanath Swami.

Today I read an arti­cle that appeared in Bloomberg Busi­ness­week called The Rise of the Power Veg­ans.  The arti­cle men­tioned Steve Wynn, a bil­lion­aire with over 10 000 peo­ple work­ing for him, who recently watched a doc­u­men­tary called Eat­ing by Mike Ander­son. 

Kurma is one of my favorite cooks.  His recipe books are leg­endary.  But recently I was check­ing out his blog and I found him men­tion that there is a dif­fer­ence of 5 ml between the North Amer­i­can table­spoon and the Aus­tralian tablespoon.

Rad­hanath Swami spoke Sun­day evening in New York at Yoga­maya Stu­dio.  Bryn Chris­man made won­der­ful arrange­ments.  She is the Stu­dio direc­tor, a yoga teacher, and kir­tan lover.

Sat­ur­day morn­ing we walked around the Capi­tol Build­ing, the botan­i­cal gar­den near the White House, a few muse­ums, and what looked like Chi­na­town.  All the signs on the build­ings were in Chi­nese, but there were no food mar­kets out­side.  Very unusual for Chinatown.

Cai­tanya Jivan (Joel Pier) hosted Rad­hanath Swami at his yoga stu­dio in Philadel­phia called Sid­dha Yoga on Nov 5. 

Novem­ber 4 we cel­e­brated the Fes­ti­val of Lights or Diwali at the Broome Street Tem­ple in New York.  It was like walk­ing into a South Indian Tem­ple — except hard wood floors instead of mar­ble!  On the week­days start­ing at 5:45 am the tem­ple is open for Mysore style yoga.  The place is so packed, peo­ple wait at the back til those in front fin­ish and move forward!
